Make a website from your Google Business Profile.
Google no longer builds websites from Business Profiles: it switched them off in March 2024, and old business.site addresses stopped redirecting in June 2024. To get a website from your profile now, use a builder that reads your Google listing for you. In Ember, you paste your Google Maps link or business name, and Ember pulls your verified name, address, phone, hours, category, rating and photos from Google, then builds a multi-page site around them.
You can build and preview a site for free with 150 starter credits; publishing it to the web needs a paid plan, from $9 a month (pricing). Afterwards, put the new address in the Website field of your Business Profile so Google links to it.
What happened to Google Business Profile websites?
Google let businesses publish a simple one-page site from their Business Profile, at an address ending in business.site or negocio.site. Google announced in early 2024 that it was retiring the feature. The sites went offline in March 2024, visitors were redirected to the Business Profile until June 10, 2024, and after that the old addresses return “page not found”.
If your profile still lists a business.site address, customers who click it reach a dead page. Replacing it with a working website, and updating the Website field on your profile, fixes that.
How to turn your Google listing into a website with Ember
- Open the Google import starter and paste your Google Maps link, or type your business name and city.
- Create a free Ember account. Ember looks up your business on Google and brings over the verified details and up to about 10 photos Google has for it.
- Ember chooses a design that fits your kind of business and builds the pages: home, services or menu, about, and contact with a map of your address.
- Review the live preview and ask for changes in plain words, such as “add our catering menu” or “make the headline warmer”.
- Publish on a paid plan, connect a domain you own or buy one inside Ember, then paste the address into the Website field of your Google Business Profile.
What Ember brings over from Google
- Business name, category and description.
- Address, with a map embed on the contact page.
- Phone number and website link.
- Opening hours.
- Star rating and review count.
- Photos from your listing, downloaded into your site rather than hotlinked.
Ember never invents facts it could not verify. If something is missing, such as your prices, team bios or the story of the business, it asks you or leaves room for you to add it.
Why a website still matters if you have a Business Profile
Your Business Profile is a listing on Google's surfaces. A website is yours: it can hold your full menu or service list, your story, a contact form, and pages that answer the questions customers ask, and it works the same whether someone finds you on Google, Instagram or an AI assistant. Search engines and answer engines also treat a linked, consistent website as a signal that the business is real.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still make a free website from Google Business Profile?
No. Google retired Business Profile websites in March 2024 and the old business.site addresses stopped working after June 10, 2024. Your profile itself still works; it just needs a link to a website hosted somewhere else.
Do I have to type my business details into Ember?
No. Paste your Google Maps link or your business name and city, and Ember reads the details and photos from your Google listing. You only fill in what Google doesn't have.
Will my site update when I change my Google listing?
Not automatically. Ember sites are static and fast. When your hours or details change, tell Ember in the chat and it updates the site.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Every paid plan includes a custom domain. Connect one you already own, or search for and buy a new one inside Ember.
What does it cost?
Building and previewing is free with 150 starter credits. Publishing needs a paid plan, which starts at $9 a month.
